My blackberry 8100 crashed during software installation!!! Now I have no software on my phone !!!?

I was updating to a newer version and after it wiped off my old version it crashed my computer with a system error leaving my phone completely blank. When I try to load new software it asks for a pword. I never set a pword so I am boggled. Any suggestions? Anyone have this problem?
